John
6:40
“And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the
Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up
at the last day."
“That
every one which seeth the Son and believeth on Him”;
this verse emphasizes
human responsibility in salvation. Although God is sovereign,
He works through
faith, so that a person must believe in Jesus as the Messiah and Son of God who
alone offers the only way of salvation.
However, even faith is a gift of God,
intellectually harmonizing the sovereignty of God and the responsibility of man
is humanly impossible.
But perfectly resolved in the infinite mind of God.
John 6:44
“No man can come to me,
except the Father which hath sent me draw him:
and I will raise him up at the
last day."
It is the Father's will that all should be saved.
He sent Jesus into the
world to save the world.
Whosoever believes in Jesus as Savior and Lord shall be
saved.
The Holy Spirit tugs at our heart and draws us to Jesus.
God will not always strive with us.
If we refuse over
and over,
the Holy Spirit will stop drawing.
