The
misunderstanding today about Tithing!
Neither Moses nor
God intended for Israel or Gentiles to give 10% of their money
to build massive
cathedrals, fancy vehicles and homes for 'Rabbi’ or ‘Evangelicals preachers!
Tithing to feed the
Levite, the poor, widows, the disabled and elders.
The Levite tribe received no land from the
'Promised Land from Creator God!
The Poor had no way
to support their family or themselves, the same with the disabled and the
elders!
A Levite (or Levi) (/ˈliːvaɪt/, Hebrew: לֵוִי,
Modern: Levi, Tiberian: Lēwî) is a Jewish male descended patrilineally from the
Tribe of Levi. The Tribe of Levi descended from Levi, the third son of Jacob
and Leah. The surname Halevi, which consists of the Hebrew definite article
"ה" Ha- ("the") plus Levi (Levite) is not conclusive
regarding being a Levite; a titular use of HaLevi indicates being a Levite.
Leviticus 27:30-33 30And
all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of
the tree, is the LORD's: it is holy unto the LORD. 31And if a man will at all
redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof. 32And
concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth
under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD. 33He shall not search
whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at
all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be
redeemed.
Numbers 18:21-29
21"I give to the Levites all the tithes in Israel as their inheritance in
return for the work they do while serving at the tent of meeting. 22From now on
the Israelites must not go near the tent of meeting, or they will bear the
consequences of their sin and will die. 23It is the Levites who are to do the
work at the tent of meeting and bear the responsibility for any offenses they
commit against it. This is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come.
They will receive no inheritance among the Israelites. 24Instead, I give to the
Levites as their inheritance the tithes that the Israelites present as an
offering to the LORD. That is why I said concerning them: 'They will have no
inheritance among the Israelites.'" 25The LORD said to Moses,
26"Speak to the Levites and say to them: 'When you receive from the
Israelites the tithe I give you as your inheritance, you must present a tenth
of that tithe as the LORD's offering. 27Your offering will be reckoned to you
as grain from the threshing floor or juice from the winepress. 28In this way
you also will present an offering to the LORD from all the tithes you receive
from the Israelites. From these tithes you must give the LORD's portion to
Aaron the priest. 29You must present as the LORD's portion the best and holiest
part of everything given to you.'
Deuteronomy 14:22-29
22Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth
forth year by year. 23And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place
which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy
wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that
thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always. 24And if the way be too long
for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far
from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the
LORD thy God hath blessed thee: 25Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind
up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God
shall choose: 26And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul
lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for
whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God,
and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household, 27And the Levite that is
within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor
inheritance with thee. 28At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all
the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy
gates: 29And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,)
and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy
gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may
bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.
